The fallout
Juan Cole has a depressing roundup of Arab opinion (and a nice bit of analysis on Falluja). As of a month ago, a majority of Iraqis had apparently lost patience with the US, according to this scientific poll. Any guesses what percent want us out now?
A few days ago, I posted on the Bushies weird understanding of sovereignty. Colin Powell has this bit of doublespeak to add:
If the Iraqis wrote a Declaration of Independence, I think this would be a laugh line.
My friend Rob Fannion has a cathartic rage-dump on the torture issue.

"Because a large military presence will still be required under U.S. command, some would say 'Well you are not giving full sovereignty'. But we are giving sovereignty so that sovereignty can be used to say, 'We invite you to remain'. That is a sovereign decision," Powell said.
